The picture with 3 buttons & 2 scrappies was a short scout by Cru'Dad the other day. That 'hunted out' site was off the books for now & we decided to finish the new Roman Site where Dad got his nice Fibula. It only took us until lunchtime to finish the site with just another 4 scrappies.
After lunch I decided we should do the 2 fields next to the Roman Lion Site. 1 Field was blank but the other one has a good wide scatter of Roman Coins, so we decided to grid this one. Now called 'The Roman Lion's Neighbour'.

7.5 hour hunting day;

22 Roman Bronze Coins
1 Roman Silver of Sev Alex AD224 (Very debased)
Will III Love Token (Sixpence)
Lizzy Halfgroat (Hammered)
Roman Lead Steelyard Weight
Crotal Bell
Charles I Coin Weight
Big 14th C Buckle (Largest of this type)
Roman Amphora Strap-end
Cru'Dad dug up what we expected to be deep junk! - 1st C BC-1st C AD Iron Age (Celtic) Horse Harness Mount. Checked the databases & web, not all my books yet, but it looks to be a VERY RARE example (at least), can't find a match yet.:headbang:
UPDATE;
After further research, & you know how I use the word 'Unique' sparingly, I'm upgrading the Mount to EXTREMELY RARE.
