This was my big "non-Civil War" find of the day.

My oldest coin to date, and my oldest silver (obviously).

It is a beautiful, thick, heavy "two bits" 1/4/ cut of a Spanish 8 Reale! It was pretty new when it was cut. Lots of detail. The edging is very clear. This is my very first Spanish silver, and it's cut!!

It gave a perfect 83-84 VDI ... I thought I was digging a Seated Quarter.

Here are the pics ...

And check out this edge ...

This is silver coin #5 for me this year. My "youngest" so far has been an 1893-O Barber Dime. I'm actually going back in time!!

Here's the video of this and my other finds. Be sure to subscribe to my future videos. Thanks for looking!

sweet stuff...now you gotta go find the rest of that coin!

I would say your success is due to living a good life, but knowing that you are a minister, that pretty much goes without saying. Congrats :notworthy:

Your prayer was certainly answered

Congrats on your first cut silver! That's a real thick one for sure. Hope that's the first of many. Good luck to you guys ..... Bill

you are sure making Kentucky proud with your finds, I have found a few of those pieces of 8 reale at a site of mine here in Kentucky and HillBilly found a half reale from the same site. So hopefully you or WKyDigger are as fortunate to unearth some more Spanish Silver from that Awesome site you all are working.

Congrats, Bill

Awesome finds, congrats on the old silver and eagle button!! :headbang:

Bill, you should have heard KyShooter hollering when he found that spanish cut silver. I had my headphones on and had no trouble hearing him. Also had a pretty big smile on his face. We had a great time and i think we are going back next weekend.

Bill, I was blown away by the thickness. And the weight! Good grief!

The cut doesn't show any wear at all. I can't help but wonder if this piece was lost during the cut.

Guess I'll never know. Just glad to have it ...
