I found this beauty in my most hunted lot yesterday. It was made by the Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Co. Sometime in the late teens to early twenties.

Deputy Sheriff Merced County. Woo Hoo. First Badge.

What a super find. That thing must have just screamed.

It did, and it was really close to a metal fence. Good thing I had the 4x6 coil on. Otherwise, I would have missed it.

Sweet gotta find 1 myself thats cool:icon_thumleft:

One of the top finds I seen in awhile. Great catch. Congrats.

Thats really cool, I want one.

Merced County , great area and lots of kool places to see . Looks like the Sheriff and Paco didn't need no stinkin' badges :tongue3:

That is darn cool partner. Congrats on a nice find.

Great find! Should be some traceable history behind that.

Now that is a great find !

Fantastic! Congratulations, that is a beautiful piece of California lawman history. Sub 8-)

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps records exist from that time frame indicating a retired deputy lived at that address or the neighbors house since it was so close to the fence. I need to meet up with the local historians and see what I can find out.

No doubt that this is an exciting find just on uniqueness, then the history adds a bunch more.

HH.

Great find, authentic sheriff badges are super rare....he/she must have lost it when climbing the fence, or so I imagine. Maybe watched to many COPS shows. :)

Remarkable find. Had to nominate it for the banner. Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Yes indeed a very cool find.
It's one of those things that no doubt a fair number made, but very few of them were lost. I imagine they hung on to those as tight as their guns.

Without an inscription, tracking down the guy who owned it would be quite a long shot...AND, just maybe if you start asking questions someone "a not-so-nice cop" may insist you hand it over. Not saying that would happen, but just might.

Way cool badge. :hello2: Congrats to you.
The only one I've found so far is a Roy Roger's badge. :tongue3:
