Well guys, these finds represent a couple hunts back at my site. Just another knockout weekend, no plates this time around, but a

great amount of bullet, coins, and buttons. This site also had alot of carved bullets which is another sign of daily life in the camp and soldiers carving up bullets. All told bullet tally for

this past weekend: 115 Bullets. I didn't think I'd hit another Virgin site this year that would top the one back in April but this one has definitely done that. Without further adieu, I'll

just post the photos so you can see, thanks for looking fellas and ladies  :icon_thumleft: :

These are some photos of some of the bullets out of the Pouch and still dirty:

There were alot of the usual CW Campsite finds such as these:

Carved bullet made into what looks to be a Bishop Chess Piece, some very pretty CW Tent Rope Tensioners, a couple Scabbard tips and a couple of Eagle Buttons still in the dirt clump

Virgin CW Site 16.webp

This one was a pleasure to see pop out, in great shape:

War of 1812-era Artillery Corps 1-piece Coat Button

This was a rare-"Bird" to find. An Eagle Button still wrapped in Linen:

Civil War Marines Coat Button & Lower Plate to the Clamshell portion of an Officers Shoulder Scale:

These bullets are quite scarce to come by in this part of the Country, and this one popped out in GREAT shape! :hello2:

.44 (.49) Caliber Multi-Ring Sharps and an 1861 Fatty, 1862 Fatty, 1863 Fatty, 1864 Fatty & 1864 Regular Indian

Here's a photo of it still Dirty:

This Campsite had alot of Carved Bullets, here's all of them plus a checkers/poker chip in a single shot:

BUTTONS: Here's the group shot of the 32 Buttons. As you can see many Eagles:

BULLETS: Total for the end of the hunt: 115

On Saturday, I only had a couple hours to dig at the CW Campsite because Abby wanted to go to the Beach. So when I got done digging at the Camp, I left and went to the beach. I decided to do some beach hunting with the ole Whites BeachHunter ID that Rob let me demo for the summer  , why not, a nice change of pace, and a chance to cool down. Well, I ended up getting this 10K White Gold band after about 30 minutes of searching the surf. I'll Take It! :icon_sunny:

Thanks for looking you guys and HH!

Hey Bob, I loved that Multi-Ring Sharps too, one of my favorite finds of the weekend! Hopefully you, me and Mike can get together at the end of the month!

Again, congratulations on finding that awesome site! :headbang:

I need to take some research lessons from you!

You have made some great saves, I too like the linen covered button. Makes me curious to know how the guilting on it fared after all these years, but not enough to try & remove the linen if it was mine.... :tongue3:

Really cool post & site. I always enjoy your posts.
Thanks!

Hey Dwight, yeah it does make the mind wonder how the face of the Eagle looks, but not quite enough to take the Linen off. Thanks for compliment, I always enjoy your replies.

To the contrary of the many, I much prefer the one piece "canon".

:o :o Spectacular site and mind boggling amount of finds . Eagle wrapped in linen is as good as it gets for a buried Civil War button . Banner Worthy finds ! 8) 8) is it a general staff or can you make out a letter in the shield ??? Anyway save some digs for the upcoming " J Team Re Union / Confederation Hunt " , brutha man :laughing7: :occasion14: dawg
Dawg, cannot make it out for certain what type of Eagle it is but it's probably a General Service from the looks of it, however I'm not going to open it up to find out ;D Oh Yeah, I got some sites in the pocket for when Jeff comes down, don't worry about that! :occasion14: Thanks buddy

Josh,
Can we have a 2nd banner next to your other one? :dontknow: :laughing9:
Outstanding site! That button in cloth is amazing! :o Love the carved bullets.

Top notch post as always, very well presented. The eagle button with the linen still surrounding it is especially cool. When I visited Oahu a few years ago, my room at the Sheraton looked out on Diamondhead. Did you get a chance to climb it? There was a neat observation post at the top.

That's all I can say to is wow, wow, wow!! Love the 1812 button! Never seen a button with the linen, excellant. Top it off with a gold ring is simply awesome!

Yes, I stayed right next to Diamond Head, my hotel was the old palace of the Queen, Queen Kapiolani Hotel and I had a room at the top with a Beautiful view of Diamondhead simply beautiful. I explored the whole island mostly climbed the cliffs of Pali aka Pali Lookout and hung out on the North Shore at Halieva.

Thanks Steve I agree, that Multi Ring Sharps is one of my favorite finds of the bunch....not that I'd ever sell it but in that condition I've seen them selling on some relics sites for right around $100....a pretty large amount for a single bullet. I always love those early Crumpton Artillery Corps buttons as well, such a terrific design encompassing the cannon, eagle, and cannonballs. Thanks my friend and see you at DIV soon! :occasion14:

Wow what an exciting site :hello2:

Around here we do grab a Civil War relic or two once in a while

Nice history saves man :headbang:

Rob told me you were a water hunter now. haha. Good job on everything! Real nice.

AWESOME FINDS! What kind of detector are you using?

Josh, just amazing - all of it - just amazing! First time I've seen a button still wrapped and that .44 (.49) multi ring Sharps, I don't believe, I've ever seen one of them either - very nice! Those buttons are awesome....see a lot of gilt. Congratulations!! I'm sure there will be more to come. Great place :)

Beyond killer CW site and some gold at the beach. Dude ,you are on a ROLL!!! :notworthy: Don't be surprised when you find a nice old wedding band at that camp. There has to be one in the dirt waiting for you. The button in cloth is worth a banner vote ! Amazing and huge congratulations on a very historic piece of ground.

Thanks Colleen, I was looking forward to seeing you and Joe together at DIV but I guess Joe and I will have to dig some great stuff so he can take some nice relics back to you. I'm sure he and I will hook up and do some digging there and in the mean time maybe we'll see you this fall or upcoming Spring if you guys get down this way. :icon_thumleft:

Thanks Birdman, I did find a couple brass wedding bands in there...the vast majority of um at Civil War sites are brass. I've got a collection of the here at the house all grouped together and think they're a neat "personal" item of the CW. :icon_thumleft:

Whatta Great Collection :o
Love the one piece Buttons & the wrapped Eagle.
Any backmark visible on the ten ball Corps? I've seen Robinsons & Crumptons,
and yours is in great shape.
Awesome carvings & multi ringer.
Well deserved Banner
