Visit to Bushman's Hoek near Sterkstroom, Eastern Cape South Africa

Okay not actually todays finds, but because I am so busy at work, I have only managed to get to this, this evening, but I am sure that you will enjoy the pic's of what I found, the nice thing was this old metal fork, when I was scanning the walls of the stone fort, I had a signal, but could not see anything, after some looking I found it wedged between the rocks, do not know how it got there between the mud, it is so preserved that the wooden handle is still intact, but the wood has got some small holes in it.

Then I found some 303 doppies as well as old square nails and pieces of metal.

Also here are some pic's of the area that I was hunting. Also a Martini Henry doppie and some heads from some bullets.

Not sure if these pic's are too large, will see what happens.

This pic shows where the fork was found in this old rock fort.

The wife gets upset with me, she shouts if I ant some tea and biscuits, but I cannot hear her due to the consentration and earphones, never mind the 6 degree celsius wind blowing through these mountains, it is winter time now, to get to some of these areas a 4x4 vehicle is required, this photo show ME.

Photo of my truck, it has ARB lockers front and rear as well as a Marlin Crawler and a few other mods, we basically go anywhere with it, the wife does not worry about where I drive.

Then we have Scott, who is my look out, he warns me if The wild Baboons are near, there are many of them in this area, as you can see it is wild country, but hey Africa is known to have many open spaces, on my way up to this area we came across three Mountain Reed Buck, they ran off to the right, this time of the year, mayny people try and slaughter them with their rifles, the only hunting I do is with my Minelab.

Scott is a three year old Jack Russel, notsure if you guys get them where you live, this dog may be small, but he has balls and a heart of dinamite.

This was a spotters outpost, I think it must have had some sink roof on it, the machine went off a lot, below these rocks I found an old thin walled Martini Henery bullet doppie, these are very scarse.

Life must have been tough and rough for these young men from The British Army during the Boerwar of 1899 and 1902, these young men came all the way out from England to fight and protect a land that was given to somebody else in the end, I sometimes wonder who will have it next?

Will be going back to this area soon, the winter tempretures up there are now in the minus's during the night, it can reach minus 8 to 15 degrees celsius, but during the day like I said anything from 6 to 15, just depends on the wind factor and if there has been any snow, for South Africa, this is the coldest place of all.
