Found this in the mud at local beach - looks like an old tip off a cane. It is in-tact. All silver and hallmarked. Lion and chester shield and can't make the last bit out yet.
Other writing and marks around it - there is a 'WS' also. Any ideas?
Will update better pics soon!!

I don't think it would be from a cane as the metal would slide and not grip, maybe instead it could be from an Umbrella (parasol).

looks like the writing would be (right side up) readable when the hole is facing down. I think parasol might be a good guess.

thanks both

Nice bit of silver whatever it happens to be...

yep makes a nice change from scrap :laughing7: mind you it must have been a pretty nice parasol not a pound stretchers job

Have been looking a bit closer at it and Im starting to think it is off a walking stick or cane there are two or three tiny holes around the edge where it could have been secured as well as a fixing in the tip hole possibly with a leather washer and the angle of the tip looks caused by wear as its been used on hard surfaces etc as you could expect,,,poss from a parasol but Im leaning towards a walking cane or stick tip on closer inspection,.....who knows?
