What a beautiful belt plate
Congrats

Beautiful belt plate! Congratulations!

Like Steve PA said - likely 1820's. Earlier references often mistook several plate styles for War of 1812 but later were found to be from a later date. I found one myself. That said, excellent find and the condition is quite remarkable. That soil is too kind.

A virgin cellar hole that’s for sure! Hard to find these days. What a plate! You must be pumped man.
I take the Virgin part back after reading more posts. More credit goes to you sir!

CONGRATS, which machine found that stuff

Very nice buckle.

I hope others are paying attention to the batwing 'style' buckle & its context, because I'm going to assume you have had no pre-1800s finds from this site?

Incredible hunt, I'd dig the heck out of that place :headbang:

These woods have been pounded for years actually. Ive even been told so by a guy who has been doing just that for about 20 years haha. There are the obvious signs of iron objects on logs and against trees to say it has. There are no obvious signals left. I actually had to lift a foundation stone to get that plate. Everything is iffy but my wife and I don't mind a challenge!

That shows us all on how much most suck at detecting after 20 yrs of pounding the site. That makes it even sweeter to dig something as great as you have from there. I'd be moving the logs over (if they can) to have a peek to whats lurking under them, lots of times I've got signals masked by a dead fall. Congrats again on the recoveries.

It's an amazing belt plate find whether it turns out to be War of 1812 related or not! :occasion14:
Kudos to you for taking the initiative to detect an area that had already been hit for years.

With the largest signals such as that buckle, there may have been people that "passed" on it, assuming it's junk. I've found several 1820's and CW plates and they all sounded like cans. Lol

You're absolutely correct,, "Man this place is on fire!"
Banner on the belt plate.

actually several pre-1800s finds were made. Many lead/pewter spoon pieces, some dandy buttons, one with etched flower design (seen in shot) and if you look at the group shot right under my plate is a lead or pewter cast spanish reale button or cuff link. (very dirty in pic but you can clearly make out the pillars)

I will also add that my wife's war of 1812 artillery button was found very close to this cellar hole..
