What a hunt! Mega congrats on the stunning belt plate, such a cool piece of our history. Sub :hello2:

great finds voted banner :occasion14: :notworthy:

Awesome digs! That plate is BEAUTIFUL!!! Congrats man!

You got an awesome "china marble". I just found out what they were from Old Pueblo of TNet fame.

Congrats on the exceptional belt plate and other finds. I voted banner.

Thanks for sharing!

This is my reference for American Military plates. Sorry the pictures uploaded from my phone came up sideways

Just awesome as about all I can say and my Banner vote went in! Congrats!

actually several pre-1800s finds were made. Many lead/pewter spoon pieces, some dandy buttons, one with etched flower design (seen in shot) and if you look at the group shot right under my plate is a lead or pewter cast spanish reale button or cuff link. (very dirty in pic but you can clearly make out the pillars)
OK, not the best example, but the horse buckle ID doesn't change from circa mid-19th.

WOW.... that's what it's all about. That belt plate is beautiful. Congrats to you Mister.

Wow! Amazing finds. That's a great location you've got there. Keep it up. Congrats!!

Holy cow! What a great picture that first one is with everything in it! What a day! High up on my crowded wish list. Big congrats!!

Perfect hunt. The belt plate is awesome. Congrats! [emoji2][emoji106]

I would like to point out that neither of these designs match my plate. Refer closely to my eagles neck and you will see they are not the same.

With the largest signals such as that buckle, there may have been people that "passed" on it, assuming it's junk. I've found several 1820's and CW plates and they all sounded like cans. Lol

Ain’t that the truth. I know I have to fight the temptation to skip a huge signal, thinking “no way someone lost something cool if it was that big”.

Steve in PA - Here is the plate that you are picturing (with the different neck than mine) in "American Military Insignia 1800-1851"
Only here they are identifying it as light artillery and dating 1814-1821 which as we know the war of 1812 ended in march of 1815 meaning that even this example could have been used in the war of 1812.

Here is another one from the same book which is the third edition 2010. Note that the dimensions are slightly different from the last one I posted.
