Was this hematite used by Native Americans or is it natural?

I've had this for a few years, can't remember if I found it in a creek bed or field. Every edge is smooth, no jagged spots at all. Could this have been handled by Native Americans?

Yeah it looks natural to me raw hematite is real corse that appears to be what you have there! Rubbed hematite is usually smooth as a piece of glass!

Usually if it had been used most likely it would have been smother because one use for it was paint pigment,
