I have a 1980-p Washington quarter with blobs of extra (silver?) on both faces.
I'm wondering if this is an oddity, or...?

On the obverse, Washington has a "pimple" behind his left ear!
It maybe that someone, put a drop of silver there, but why?

On the reverse, there's a smaller drop of metal, under the eagle's right (our left) wing.
Sorry for these photos, my scanner doesn't like me, so I used a hand-held camera, and messed
with contrast etc. Really, the coin is in bad shape, even after a few days in my rock tumbler...!

It was in a fire, I found a couple of them in the past 2 years. I bet it was charred black when you dug it.

I think it was, yes!
But, bubbles (zits) on both faces - silver, etc defying gravity??

I think your argument is very good, as the details of the entire coin, both sides, are poorly-defined,
even the lamination of the coin was separating slightly, adjacent to the big (silver) ZIT...!
So, it was effected by a fire.....a new one for me.
It's spendable, so I wonder what the next person who holds it will think....? :laughing7:

Well! I guess that's a new one for me!
Thanks, Loco-Digger!

Fire for sure..... 500 bucks worth many sumers ago my brothers and i found a old house that burnt and we found tons of coins that looked like that we spent then all on fishing gear etc good times... happy hunting
