Wasn't too exited.....at first

Received permission to hunt this 1950's era home site which sits on several hill top acres. I wasn't too crazy about the place because I prefer much older sites to detect. On my initial walk around the property, I noticed that the hand dug, stone lined well was located about 100 yards away from the house. That seemed pretty far away based on other sites that I've been on. The concrete foundation for the well's windlass looked pretty crude up close. Went back to quiz the landowner about the "other" history of this property and he confirmed that two late 1800's homes were situated on the property, one of which was right next to the well.....hell yes! Tried to pop a few plugs late yesterday evening but the dirt is just too dry and compacted from cattle to get a decent hunt in. Gonna have to sit on this one until conditions improve...it should be a great spot.

Kinda weird how the boards of house are cut and constructed, I've never seen angles like that in a home....

Hey that's pretty sweet! The boards are cut like that to provide more overall strength to the structure. Looks like a lot of fun.
