WATCH: American Dependency: ?Give Me My Food Stamps? | The Daily Sheeple

As of this week fully 25% of American households – about 48 million people – are dependent on government food stamps to put food on the table.

The system is plagued with fraud on every level. Food stamp scams are rampant, with recipients often off-loading their monthly electronic benefit transfer cards for cash value. Mega lobbies spend tens of millions of dollars a year just to keep the pump primed and the funds flowing so that companies like Walmart and 7-11 can keep their revenues up. Big banks, including behemoths like JP Morgan, are cashing in by providing the processing facilities to make it happen.

It’s a racket.

There are hundreds of billions of dollars on the line every month and as an American taxpayer you are paying for it all.

This type of welfare has made American companies and citizens dependent on aid.

With Obamacare forcing companies to reduce the hours for employees, we can only imagine how many more millions will need government assistance, something that will be built into their lifestyle regardless of if they actually need it or not.

The middle class is caving in right before our eyes.

As you can see, everyone from consumers, to businesses, to banks are now creating businesses and lifestyle models dependent on government assistance.

When will it ever stop?

Earlier this week Congressional Republicans passed a bill that would eliminate food stamp loop holes, requiring adults between the ages of 18 and 50 without minor children to find a job or enroll in a work training program in order to continue receiving benefits. The move was immediately rejected by Democrats and social aid groups, who claimed the new regulations would force millions of people into poverty.

If this new measure were to make it through the Senate and the President’s desk (which it likely won’t), millions would be thrown into poverty according to opponents.

Now consider what happens when the government of the United States hits a brick financial ceiling, where they can no longer dole out these funds. Or, we continue to print more money keeping the food stamp system operational, but insufficient with respect to supporting the needs of recipients because the price of food goes through the roof.

Fifty million dependents would immediately run out of the ability to use these cards for food (or extra cash if they are reselling them).

The result?

It should be clear.

There will be riots on the streets of America , likely turning to looting as people hit back at the system that is no longer providing them the welfare they need.

When the Food Stamps stop all hell will break loose

Well layed Government plan... send all the good jobs to China...whats not to understand ?

it's not the government sending the jobs anywhere. It's the corporations and the drive for profit and the ability to pay the CEOs 400 times the wage of the workers.

If you want to live in an area with no government regulations concerning workers rights or the environment, I understand Somalia is wide open.

What say we cut subsidies to the oil companies and agribusiness?

Do you think the government should create jobs since the corporations seem to be perfectly content to offshore ours and to sit on record amounts of cash profit stashed in off shore banks?

What are you talking about...the gov. cut up most of the major Steel Plants put them on ships and shipped them out of the country, or don`t you watch the news....i`m certain that all your clothes are made in the United States ..NOT.
You go to Somalia and live...you sure don`t know what you are talking about...how about your shoes ? Tools,food... open your eyes.

Well at least the Government brought us Solindra. How much of that Money went over seas after it failed. David?

Subsidies to the oil companies?...sure. Here's an easy test to determine if the oil companies are subsidized. Do they pay more in taxes than they receive from the government? If there is more flow TO the government, they're not subsidized. If there's more flow TO the companies, than they are.
Also, the record profits in offshore banks were earned overseas, so it's not OUR money. And, it would be in OUR banks, if the government wasn't trying to steal 35% of it, so they could spend it on foodstamps.

please, could you show just one instance of where that happened? Which president was in charge when the "government" did that?

Jim, excluding the rate that should have been paid by EXXON or BP, could you show where they paid more in income taxes than they received to develop public lands, including the cost of the land they obtained by eminent domain?

from Forbes magazine, May 2011 reports Exxon/Mobil made 35 billion in offshore revenue while spending $27,430,000.00 lobbying Congress to continue the subsidies they receive from the Federal (you & me) government.

Please do show me the errors of my ways. Thanks.

I can't do that. But, how about the Homestead Act? The government actually gave people free land, simply for developing it. Or, how about the transcontinental railroad. The government actually gave the railroads free land, simply for taking a chance and building the railroad. What a dirty idea...free land!! And, how about Obozo giving all the bucks to his political cronies like GE to build wind turbins? Or the companies getting millions from Obozo to make solar panels? They pocket the money and then go bankrupt...after making big donations to his polical machine of course.
Assuming you are correct about subsidies...which I doubt, even if they did receive subsidies...you and I both better be darned glad they did, as the supply of fuel would otherwise disappear. Or, we'd be paying $4.00/liter instead of $4.00/gallon....like Europe. It kills me that people think the oil companies are getting rich. If you calculate the profit they make per gallon of gas, they make less than a third of what the various governments make on that same gallon of gas. And today, gas is the same price relative to inflation, that it was 40 years ago. The oil companies aren't making any more money, as a percentage of their operating costs, than most major corporations. You conspiracy wonks just can't tolerate the idea of a free market....since the idea of profits bothers you...just don't buy gas...that way you're not being victimized by the big, bad oil companies. I, for one, am damned glad they're out there providing me with a commodity I need.
And please feel free to show me how much they got from Uncle Sam to develop public lands. And also show me a link about how the oil companies got land by eminent domain, while you're at it.
Jim

Hmmm... I understand the diversions here, but wasn't this about welfare fraud, abuse, out of control, stuff like that ?

Has Dave successfully hijacked yet another thread ?

If no profit was made Dave!

Dismantle the oil rigs and stack them in a pile. Radio the tankers and order them back to port. Pull out the drills and cement up the wells. (A year after the BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico, let’s hope we’ve learned how to do that, at least.) Tow the platforms back to shore. Plug up the pipelines. And lock up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve while you’re at it — it has only about a month or so worth of oil in it, anyway.
What would happen next? How would we live in a world without oil?

First, there’s transportation. With the overwhelming majority of the oil we produce and import devoted to powering our cars, motorcycles, trucks, trains and planes, the impact on getting around would be most dramatic. Price-gouging would begin right away, and long lines would form at gas stations. The lines wouldn’t last, though, because the gasoline would soon be gone. A strategic reserve of finished petroleum products — gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel — has often been suggested but never created. Within a month, every fuel tank would be dry, all our gauge needles would point to “E,” and the roads, rails and skies would be virtually empty.
How far is it to the nearest grocery store? How long does it take to walk — or bike, or skate — to work? Finally confronting our dependence on motor vehicles, we’d reach for whatever solutions we could find. Soon, we’d all be looking for an electric car (but there are precious few of those for sale) or converting our vehicles to run on natural gas. But we’d be waiting for some time to secure adequate natural gas supplies, establish delivery infrastructure and switch over our cars.

Our enslavement to black gold goes much further than the problem of getting from Point A to Point B. We also need to keep the lights on. And this would be possible, for the first month or so, because only 1 percent of America’s electricity is generated from oil — coal carries the largest burden, along with natural gas, nuclear and hydroelectric power.
But brownouts and blackouts would soon begin. Sure, our electricity is generated mostly from coal, but how would the coal be extracted without those diesel-guzzling yellow trucks? How would it be hauled to the power plants? (Remember, our trains all run on diesel, too). Heating and cooling our homes would suddenly get a lot more complicated, and our televisions and laptops would be just a few more weeks away from shutting off forever.
Forget even trying to get to work anymore; we now have another set of problems to solve, especially if it’s winter and our houses are getting cold. Can we quickly put together some solar panels and batteries? A wind turbine? What do we have growing in the back yard that can burn? Environmentalists have been nudging us to insulate our homes and generate electricity from renewable resources for a while now; this might be the time to start paying attention.
It gets much worse still, of course, because a world without oil would quickly become a world without all of the products made from petroleum that we have come to know, love and depend upon. The list of essentials that we’d soon be doing without is prodigious: virtually all plastics, paints, medicines, hospital machines that go “bleep,” Barbie dolls, ballpoint pens, breast implants, golf balls . . .

Eating would get tougher, too. If no one can truck in fresh veggies from across the country, we might be inclined to go back to basics and grow our own food. Local farmers would become a necessity, not just people who sell us honey at the street fair. That said, make sure to keep the food coming, fresh and fast, because it’s going to be awfully difficult to refrigerate. Fishing might work, so you’d need to get a new rod while supplies last. Alas, most of them are made of plastic. Then again, so is fishing line.
It’s an interesting thought experiment to picture a world suddenly without oil. Taken to its logical conclusion, it encompasses so much more: a complete and rapid breakdown of society, leading to desperation, lawlessness, wars and untold suffering. The scenario is unreal, of course, because we could never shut off our oil supply in a day, and in any case, there are trillions of barrels of the stuff still in the ground, right?

Perhaps if the Corps weren't overregulated, and labor Unions weren't so greedy and corrupt, jobs would stay here, and both the company and the workers would profit and be content. This is a free market economy system, and in order to stay in business, you must make a profit...and frankly Dave, owning my business, and working under my own constraints, and those of the Govt's....you or them are not going to dictate to me how much or how little I can make.....I and only I will decide how hard to work, and how much I want to make, and also who and how many I want to employ, and what the terms of that employment will be. Gary

AFL-CIO.......................Teamsters......................IBEW......and on and on. UAW??.....nuff said!

Only wish you could visit south Texas and watch the abuse. It would amaze you. Fraud and illegal recipients. People here are way ahead of that girl on the video who sold her stamps. Got stopped by a couple in Uvalde who wanted to "pay" for my groceries with their Lone Star Card. Then I would give them the amount in cash. They made a practice of trading food stamps dollar for dollar. Stamps for cash. And they are not alone...

I was member of IBEW for 11 years....Unions did a lot for this country... I start drawing a union pension from them in November for the rest of my life, not a lot but hey, $250 a month will come in handy:occasion14:. I will get back every dime I paid in union dues in 18 months...............:hello2:

I think if the union heads didn't suck all the dues and use them for their own agenda more people would support them at this time. Promises are made to those who convince the sheep they know best.

whew...

That's the thing TH..........people getting back much more than they put into stuff. Kinda like a Ponzi scheme. Eventually someone will lose. Ask the union workers in Detroit how it works. It's the same thing that's happening to Social Security. With what they pay out, along with the massive abuse to that system, it's fate is sealed unless changes are made. I too am reaping benefits from government retirement, SS and a small check from the VA every month. I feel I've earned a lot of it but, the longer I live, the more I will reap until I'm getting more than I contributed. If these monies weren't invested wisely all of these systems will eventually fail. jmho
