Watch frame? Winder?

Found this near house built in mid-1800s. Thought it was a can tab until I saw the roundness and that it’s got the green patina. the “tab at the top is very delicate. There are more tabs at the back, but I’m not gonna unbend them. Assumed it was some sort of watch frame, until I saw the pics, below, of old watch winders. Seems too delicate for that, tho.

Not a watch winder. A broken part of something larger, but no idea what.
