Watch Key, Saddle Guard Plate, Eagle Cuff, & Yankee Camp Can R.I.P. Until Fall
Dman begged off our hunt today because he knew his store was going to be busy and he's resting his shoulder. Josh and I decided to brave the snakes and ticks at the U.S. CW camp that we hunted with Dixiedigger and the infamous Relic Hound last week. The skeeters were friendly and it was 84 deg. when we ended out 3.5 hour hunt. Josh found a perfect Eagle cuff with a straight shank. We called Dman at lunch and he was delighted that Josh is still buying lunch for the Tenn. Trio. I dug the little pocket watch winding key in the camp and it was 6-7 inches deep like most of the other relics there. I also dug the iron underwear button, and brass saddle guard plate for a McClellan saddle.
This will probably end our Spring hunting season except for a few home sites and plowed ground. Now, it's time to research potential CW and old home locations. HH from the Tennessee Trio, Quindy.
Watch for Dman's article on yard hunting in Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine soon, our article in the June-July issue of American Digger entitled "Every Relic has a Story", and an article about Josh of the Trio finding a virgin U.S. Cavalry site tentatively scheduled for the August issue of W & E Treasures. We also have some our recent finds scheduled to be pictured in North South Trader's Civil War and AD Magazines this Summer.
