Still trying to get a date on my new site, the dateable things Iā€™ve found so far are square nails, a civil war era cavalry button, a spoon possibly from the same era based on shape, and a shield nickel unfortunately with an unreadable date. I think Iā€™m on a mid to late 1800ā€™s site. I found this the other day I would bet itā€™s a watch link but wrist watches by my research werenā€™t really common until WWI. That doesnā€™t really fit the other objects. Iā€™m wondering if anybody knows if this kind of link was used on anything else... or If it even is a link.

I looked at this for a few minutes.

I don't get the sense it is a link of any kind. Maybe a part of some funky type of suspender buckle or adjuster?
