Got back out today at my latest site. Beau could not make it due to a last minute change of plans - though I went ahead and hunted anyways. I always enjoy hunting with people more than by myself - but then again it was not to just get out today and enjoy the peace and quiet of the water.

I had a good hunt for only going for a half day trip. I am enjoying this site as it has a little bit of everything. It is a VERY early site but also had a little bit of Civil War activity around as well. I dug a few more civil war and colonial era bullets and even dug the throat to a civil war sword scabbard - a nice surprise. I recovered another 8 or 9 buttons (including another really early pewter button, two piece soldered button backs and a blow-hole button).

I finally got some complete buckles as I had only recovered pieces. I did bring a few broken ones from the water - but also brought from the depth a nice early knee buckle and colonial strap buckle.

This site has solder from windows and other items and for the second time dug the solder to a civil war era ration can. The find of the day was the half reale - this now makes silver for each of my first three trips this summer - looking forward to a few more.

I really hit this site hard today as it began to slow down immensely. While digging all the small and iffy targets I began to recover some civil war era percussion caps (fired and dropped) including a fired pistol cap (small one at the top).

All in all it was not a bad day on the water. I probably won't get out for the next weekend or two due to family in town and other obligations - lets hope the hot hand does not cool down.

HH

Dan

Great stuff buddy! That scabboard throat is awesome

That had to be a very rewarding day. I love the variety of items as well as the time span of the found items. Nicely done.

Great finds Dan! I love seeing those buckles from the water. Centuries old and they look like they were just lost. Keep these post coming!!

Are you good or what! Congrats!
Q.- in TH 4th pic down what is that? I have a flattened copper pipe that looks like that but longer!

If you are talking about this, it is the throat to a sword scabbard.

way to go Dan! a nice assortment of everything!

That stool that you display your finds on looks every bit as old as some of the finds themselves. I'm still looking for that elusive first Spanish silver. Great finds... and I love that stool too.

Ha! You know I get more comments about that stool. My wife actually picked it out years back at an antique store...we believe it is probably from the mid to late 1800s

Thanks man - they do come out looking good - don't they?

Lots of nice finds there! Hope to get my water machine repaired or fixed up sometime.

Nice going again Dan. You're a braver man than I fighting off snakes, snappers and all that muck to save a little history. Your silver looks quite thin, but the detail still seems to be there, at least on the reverse. It might be a good candidate for that small scale electrolysis I was telling you about recently. Did you ever clean up those cobs from the last hunt?

Thanks man - lets not forget the bugs that bite and sometime result in a swollen extremity ha ha
