In addition to being addicted to metal detecting, I'm also just a nerd who loves video games and anime, and for about the past 2 years or so have built quite a few model kits from series like Mobile Suit Gundam.

You could say my interests are a bit eclectic, lol.

But I thought I'd make this thread to share some of the kits I've built since I think it definitely falls under the arts and crafts category. They're pretty easy builds in that they're mostly snap fit and pre colored, but I have begun to get into painting and weathering my builds.

Very nice, some of those take me back. I never could get into kits though, i have trouble following rigid directions. Don't forget nerds are cool.

I'm "putting together" a Datsun Bluebird Patrol Car right now...well, I would be, if I could just get a rainy day to keep me from detecting, lol...

Some people make $$ selling detailed models. A relative had like 8 Corvettes over time. One special was a 67 fastback fully detailed. He paid a guy in another state to make a model just like his Vette. It came under a clear plastic show case. In today's $$ he paid $300. for the model

Ahh, I see. That's why I love building these Gundam so much, haha. They're all snapfit. No glue required. Everything I make with glue starts to fall apart eventually, lol.

This is one I painted. It's a (fictional version of) a Fiat 500. I was super happy with how the body turned out, but you can see all the parts where I painted with black just how unsteady my hands are, haha. Next to it you can see the one I'm currently "working" on.

Wrong glue ... I don't build models, but I do purchase supplies for a friend who has spent a couple thousand on model ships, planes, and cars. Going to order him some more glue Monday and I'll post a link.

Might even post a few pics of his favorites if he'll consent. 70+ year old model maker . . . and former ship's engineer for Lykes and others.
