The weather has been nice, and the office has been slow, and that spells treasure hunting for me!

I went out on Friday, I hit a site where a block of homes were demolished. It is really trashy, so most people don't want to hunt there. I was able to find three Wheaties and a '36 Merc that has seen better days... scratched, tarnish and a bit melted looking!

On Saturday I went out to an older local school. I was assured by the seasoned local detectorists that their Etracs had left nothing for me there. They said that they hunted the place for 30 years! They laughed, I proceeded on, low and slow with the Deus. I got a deep, scratchy, broken signal... there were nails in the hole, once I removed them, the signal cleared up... and a '45 Walker emerged from about 7" deep! Flushed with success, I proceeded onward, and shortly thereafter, a squeaky mixed tone appeared... and out comes a '46 Rosie! The sweet smell of vindication!

Todd Lipe took me out of Sunday. He dug the only silver, much to my chagrin, however I scored this sweet 1867 green IHC!

That's the third silver half that I have found in 30 days!
YTD silver coins: 84

Thanks looking, and best of luck to you on your hunts!

Tom, I see you still have that silver Mojo going for you. I can't complain when it comes to silvers this season. I sure would like to check the Walker off my list along with an SLQ. Keep those silvers from the school a secret, otherwise there will be more XP Deus's to contend with locally.

Thanks LD! The Walkers are "relatively" plentiful around here. I got three this year, and two last year. The secret is to dig the aluminum cans. If they are less than 5", they hit hard, too hard to be a coin, must be an aluminum can...pass...

Lately I have also tried to dig more iffy signals. The Walker, Merc and Rosie, on this post, were all iffy signals in public places. A bunch of people passed on these signals, because they were not good enough. Their loss, my gain, all good!

As for the SLQs... I only have one, and I just found it this summer. Todd Lipe has dug two right in front of me this year, better ask him how he does it... obviously, I don't know.

As for keeping the school a secret... the other boys had 30 years to hunt it, and still couldn't find that Walker. It is a small school yard too. I'm going to offer lessons in the school yard, next Saturday at 9:00AM.

The secret is the Deus, that machine finds what the Minelabs misses. I set the Deus on "nail laser" and it goes right through the iron.

Best of luck to you LD!

Nice score! it pays to ignore the nay sayers.

My detector hasn't learned that little trick, how to turn a can into a silver half! So far, if it says "can", it's been a can!

Nice silvers CT. Guess those E Tracs didnt know what they were talking about.

9 a.m. ,I can't wait!

That looks great for a DUG coin!!! Lol.
You have been killing it Sweet Tea!!!

You've had quite a year in the silver dept Tom. Nice going on the walker, and hope you can close out Dec with a few more. Merry Christmas from Virginia.

Anyone who tries to compare length of time hunting with how much is left, is someone I take great pleasure! In hunting after! ;)

WTG!

Sign me up CT especially if its Guaranteed Instruction. But then again some of us can't be helped:laughing7:

nice walker. I like that Indian head too. even as worn as it is, it's probably still worth about 50 bucks

Beauty large silver buddy. I see a hostile takeover of the Charlotte Silver Mafia! Lol

Cheers

Congratulations on the finds! No place is ever hunted out, low and slow gets you the goodies! :occasion14:

Not long ago a group of detectorists said to me this old park was "hunted out". I thanked them and proceeded to find two seated and one barber dime within one hour.:dontknow:

I never get tired of seeing walkers, gorgeous coin for sure.

What's this "nail laser" setting you speak of lol? Sounds like I need that!
