The Weekend was a busy one and finally found some time to do some swinging, the Weather was beautiful and that made gaining permission to some sites a problem because no one was home, arrgh. But me and my Son finally got a ok and hunted for a couple hours and did pretty well.

The first find of the day was an Eagle button, bm Scovill mfg.co Waterbury that cleaned up really nice with shank still intact. A short time later My son called me over to show me this big pocket knife that is a very cool find. I also found a pistol ball and part of a stirrup and a couple of unknown pieces.
The Coolest find of the day made by my son that i first thought was a lead canister shot, but once i picked it up i knew it wasn't lead, turns out to be a Shooter marble.
During the hunt we also Found some harmonica reed pieces and of course alot of iron including the ring with the chain attached.
I first thought the weekend was without getting to dig, but it turned out to be a pretty darn nice weekend. Sorry for the shortage of dig pics but i forgot to change the batteries and they didn't make it past the first find.

Thanks for looking, Bill

Re: Weekend Relics; Eagle button, Knife and Clay Canister Shot ???

Bill, those are very nice finds. A great Eagle button and period knife. I don't know about the ball. If I had dug it, I would have thought it was a very large marble. HH, Quindy.

Thanks Quindy, the ball is a strange find and I really don't know what to think about it,lol. it will make a good display piece if nothing else.

Good Luck on your next Time Detecting, Bill

Re: Weekend Relics; Eagle button, Knife and Clay Canister Shot ???

Ball is possibly an Indian game ball.

Re: Weekend Relics; Eagle button, Knife and Clay Canister Shot or Bennington mar ???

Bill, was the ball detectable by your machine or an eyeball find? Thanks, Quindy.

He said he thought it was kiln fired clay covered in Zinc. That would rule out Indian. I am not sure it would survive the compression coming out of a cannon either?? Weird find. But some nice Cw relics to go with it !

Sorry Quindy, I have been pretty busy this week and missed your question.
it was actually a eyeball find, but it has traces of iron on it especially on one part like it sat in something for a period of time leaving a rusted stain. I will take some more pics to give another shot for id.

Interesting finds!!

From the looks of that knife's bolster, it appears to be an old switchblade...possibly a Schrade, 1910-1930.

Kell

Howdy Kelly, haven't heard from you in awhile. I hope your doing well.
Glad you like the family pic, We stayed busy all Summer last Year doing all kinds of outdoor stuff. The pic is from Mill Springs Ky Battlefield, it's always funny when my crew walks in, they start asking if there are anymore to qualify for the group discount rate :laughing7:.
