Weekend Silver

I have been using up the vacation days lately. The weather has been cooperating, so I have been hunting as much as possible. Here is a run down of the latest finds.


Thursday:
Went out with Smittyman to hit some vacant lots and old tear downs. Unfortunately, I saw MDing plugs at the site, so I knew that we were not the first to hit this spot. We were at the correct spot, as 13 wheaties showed up. I also got a Canadian cent. And the highlight of the day, a '51 Rosie.

Friday
Smittyman insisted upon returning to the site that the Rosie came from. He brought along his good luck charm, Zeke, however nothing else surfaced. We went to another area, and I got a couple of wheaties, a Sacagewea and a '41 Washington.

Saturday
I went to some apartments built in the 1940s. I was able to scratch up 4 wheaties and a 1947 Half Penny. I really liked it because it was mostly green. I can only assume that people living in England find these by the handful, and probably consider it to be their zincoln, but around here, you don't see them everyday.

I hunted with Todd Lipe on Sunday, but only found a few wheaties. The real treasure on that hunt was the good company!

Those are silver coins #58 & #59 YTD.

Holy crap I go to work for a few hours and now I've got a voodoo doll named after me. It must be working lol. I wrecked my truck last week, I hit myself in the hand with a sledge hammer a few days ago and today I was unloading a cement cutting machine and the other guy couldn't hold on. It flipped over and the handle hit me in the jaw and the ear so hard it almost knocked me out.
So please pull the pins out of that damn thing. You guys are invited up here to all my sites in the spring. For as long as you want. I love you all and I'm sorry I live in a place littered with Tree coins lol. Ok no I'm not :-)

You know my deal, I am not competitive, I just like to find the silver coins. It has been a good first year, I put a lot of effort into it, but I have some nice memories. The fun of hunting with you and the other boys has been the real reward.

As soon as it quits raining, I plan to hunt some more. I am off of work the week of New Years, so hopefully I can get a few more silvers before years end. That leaves me 6 days left to hunt this year. We shall see where the chips fall!

PS: Every time Abe finds something good, I put another pin in my "Abe Doll". I am not sure that it hurts him, but it makes me feel good inside!

Hey Beez, Don't forget to dull the tip of the pin, so it makes that popping noise when it penetrates the "Abe doll". Never ceases to bring a smile to my face. Ahhh... good times...

congrats on the silver, remember just because someone else beat you to a spot, it doesn't mean they did it right. I find a lot of good deep coins in holes other people started but didn't get the target

Tom, great post, I love that half penny the best. That is really cool. One of my favorite finds was a 1918 one cent Canadian coin. I found it the day after my mom died in her back yard, where her garden had been when I was a kid, here in South Jersey. Her home was built in 1961. You never know where or what your going to find.

I sure hope Abe has a big back yard for my campsite (pup tent, screenhouse) I wonder how many of us southern boys will fit in that Treasure skiff of mine to make it to Abe's Treasure Island? I don't voodoo, I just believe in lucky shirts and lucky bandannas. He is pretty accident prone so we better bring a emergency kit to doctor him up (he falls down cliffs and gets lost and stung by bees!)
