I had Friday off to prepare for a tag sale on Saturday. I went to our church to pick up some plastic fold up tables and did a little detecting while I waited for the doors to be unlocked. This is one of the first places I ever got permission to detect, not only have I found a ton of things here, but the area is pounded. Apparently not totally as I went to a section I had written off and started pulling out wheaties and other old items. Topped it off with a nice IH!! Will definitely have to go back there and finish.
After the tag sale on Saturday I detected my neighbor down the roads property who was nice enough to grant me permission that day!!! One of his houses is over 200+ years old, the other is around 160. He had just trimmed down a hedge row that had gone wild and was eating up too much space. I get the signal for the barber dime and look down and there it is on the surface, barely covered in dirt!!! As you can see I found a ton of spoons there. I had a somewhat difficult time detecting because they have an electric dog fence. I'm going to have to see if I can get them to turn it off.
Yesterday, I scored 3 silver dimes at a club hunt a member had arranged. All were deep targets, not reading true silver. Was difficult detecting but worth the effort! It was extremely hot yesterday, the hunt was supposed to go from 9-4PM however most people had left after noon due to the heat. I left by 1PM. I passed by one school I had thought would be a great place to detect the tot lot, but I was still fairly hot and decided to pass. The next school I was passing by was the elementary school I went to as a kid. I ended up stopping and was glad I did!!! Around the back of the tot lot, not more than 3-4 inches into the mulch I got a 12-04 reading on the eTrac. Normally I don't dig those signals when I'm out in trashy areas or grass, just in tot lots and on beaches. (as 999 of 1000 will be pull tabs/tin foil/can slaw) This was my lucky day and out popped a nice 14k ring with a ruby/garnet and 2 tiny diamonds. Anyone have a guess/thought as to whether or not its a ruby or a garnet?
Anyway was a great 3 days of detecting, enjoy the pics.
