I went up to join Crusader this on his no1 field on Saturday and we planned to come back to mine and detect some of my fields today. Didn't get too much in the morning apart from a good soaking so we changed fields to a Roman site for an hour before the rain came back and soaked us again.

We left there and got to my house where Cru drank all my beer only to find out in the morning that the site we had planned to do had been drilled with seed. So it was back to Cru's Roman field for 6 hours before we got soaked again :-\

I got 21 Roman bronzes and not too much else....it's just a field full of coins ;D

First pics are from Saturday when I did get a nice medieval lead token with a lion :icon_thumleft:

It makes it more fun doesn't it :-\

I still think the Lead Token wins it :headbang: I now think I see two tails? If so, it might be the two-tailed Bohemian lion of the Czech Republic (although that Lion doesn't face back). If not I have seen horse pendants with Lion looking back & two tails

Its a good weekends worth :icon_thumright:

Picture 25 - right hand coin:

Dads notes on our weekend coins:

'Shaun has the master example and you have a poorer example of a Constantine I Half Folles (AE3 - 2.0- 2.5 gm usually) Sol standing left. Shaun’s clearly shows CONSTANTINVS AVG laureate, draped and cuirassed seen from rear and Rev SOLI INVICTO (there is no COMITI) and a mint of PTR with nothing in the fields - which is listed RIC Vol VI 900 (under Trier) and makes the coin AD310-311. Your coin is only a faint head Obv with a Rev showing SOLI INVICT[ O] – again no COMITI. So these are not run of the mill issues. Also yours is 16mm 1.12gm which is small for a 310-311 AE3 – an issue normally circa 18-20mm. Can Shaun confirm his coin size etc. In all I think these may still be in the rare category.'

Ok, size is 17.5mm and it weighs 1.5g :icon_thumleft:

I see you Brits digging old Roman coins all the time. Please excuse my lack of knowledge but what is the value of these coins? I know, that's a big spread old, rare, etc. but can you give a ballpark (ooops, insert Rugby field) figure? Thanks.
