Its easy to see, once you get the answer. Couldn't tell how large the item was so I was clueless. Thought it was a knob for something.

I believe the patents were only good for 10 or 15 years (i cant remember which) so the date would be 1886- 1906 or no newer than 1911. :) Great ID PBK. They may have made them past 1911 but the patent date would not be embossed on the item after the patent has expired.

That is the coolest hand-held pencil sharpener that I've ever seen :thumbsup:
I say 'handheld' because the Bestest Coolest, were the ones riveted somehow to the teachers desk, they grabbed the pencil and a few winds of the handle, a sharp point, or if you didn't stop winding, a stub :tongue3:

And to think now the same company mass produces cheap plastice square bland sharpeners. The Victorians made everything ornate!
