Weird Spinny Thing

I found this item in a field in Luxembourg where I have found stuff from the 1600s - modern times.
It appears to be made of copper.
The bottom makes it look as if it had broken off of something else but I'm not 100%
Any info is appreciated as I have no clue.

OP stated it "spins"... Although my first thought was finial as well... but size sorta makes this less likely... but not impossible. :)

This is my first "what is it" return... been out of loop lately and will continue.

Glad to see you back . the what is it forum is my favorite . the piece shown looks solid to me and I took the'' spinny'' thing to mean it resembled a toy called a top.
