I rarely get skunked, even at the beach. There have to be hundreds and hundreds of coins at this site, all pre Civil War, but detecting is not allowed. I am very picky where I dig because it hurts to dig these days.
Yesterday was ZIP..., Zippo....Nada...NOTHING...except a small thermos bottle cup/cap....20s-40's...,and trash!
At least my trash is partly recyclable...oh yeah, and eyeballed a wooden Bead.
I dug ALL reasonable, shallow targets, so few were available where I hunted...!
"Some days Chickens, some days just Feathers...!"
There were plenty of nice rocks around including argellite, quartz, serpentine, gabbro, granite. Been there, done that. Don't need any more unless it's gem grade or been worked by people.
Lots of Indian graves somewhere in those woods, probably still with 10,000 artifacts, old well, broeken 19th century glass, an occasional syringe and a memorial marker for someone who stayed there awhile and died. With most people who visit the place oblivious to any of it.
