I am not suggesting anyone go out and attempt to hit the sites listed, but it may give a few people some ideas...The potential for this kind of salvage is not limited to the American South, although that area is obviously ripe with opportunity. The attachment is a page from the report illustrating the scatter pattern at an inland dock site in South Carolina.

Interesting. Apparently the bad blood between E. Lee Spence and the SC state archies goes back to at least 1975. I have to wonder if this played any part in the Hunley discovery controversy ?

I have dove on many of those sites in the past, with the state archaeologists.
