What detector?

I am new to this and trying to find a good starter detector. I have been looking at a Garrett Ace 250 and just wondering if this is a good choice or is there something better. Thanks

hey there,

there are a number of good entry level detectors that you can consider

Whites Prizm II ($200)
Garrett Ace 250 ($212)
Fisher F2 ($200)

(all of these prices are estimates)

All of these detectors are good and each have their own strengths.

The whites is built on a firm foundation of time and experience but a little over priced for what you get (in my opinion)
The Ace 250 has proven itself as a great entry level detector. You only have to search this forum to see how many people love it
The Fisher F2 is the new kid on the block but don't let that scare you, all the reports so far have been very favorable and right now for that price your getting an extra coil

So which is the best, If I had it to do all over again, I would go with the F2, but then again thats my opinion and that and .50 cents will get you a 1/4 cup of coffee.

Should add the Tesoro Silver Umax around $230 street price to the list. Excellent, capable detector for the beginner or as a backup for the experienced user. AND, There is a very good selection of different coils available to fit. My two bits,

I donl know the difference between the 3 you listed.But im a new guy too and i havent seen any second hand Ace 250's in the classifieds and i hear they all like it.I just ordered mine last night.I cant waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!..happy hunting.
