No, not the sunglasses! LOL! Those are for size reference.

I have been digging around an old uprooted tree. It’s along an old road bed and there is also a fence row. I broke it in the process but tried to place it together as best I could.

Wrightdigger, I'm unable to open the pictures for a closer look - which would help to ID it. Also, what kind of metal?

Rug beater missing it's handle.
Cut a stick to fit it and get back home and start on some rugs....:laughing7:
(No , I don't want to see how it works on me.)

I had to come back to the house for lunch. Try these pics. I believe iron. I had an idea. Could it be part of a Mast lightening rod holder?

well you solved your own whatzit.. good job.
back in the days before landfills some people would find an out of the way dirt road and dump their junk.
others tossed it over the hill out behind the house.

So are you on a dump site or house site ? I love finding bottle dumps on the old backroads

I think it’s a dumping place along the old road. I’m going to head back.

As usual it falls to me to straighten you out
You have heard of petrification?

Since your find is metal, this is a case of metalfication.
It is an ancient egret leg that has metalisized
