What do I do?

I got my new Minelab Excaliber 800 yesterday and couldn't wait to try it out. Since it was such a nice sunny day I decided to get an air tank and try it out at one of the local lakes where there is a swimming beach. Well we have had a lot of rain lately and the corps of engineers haven't been releasing any water from the lake so it was very high, actually the entire beach is under 3 to 4 feet of water (needless to say visibility was zero). Well I got my gear on swam out to where I thought would be the swimming area and started detecting. It didn't take me long to realize I was having a very hard time hearing my detector over my exhaled bubbles. I actually found myself holding my breath so I could hear my detector. Is this a common problem? Do you guys have a hard time hearing your detector over your exhaled breath? I had my volume all the way up but still had problems.

Any Ideas?

If you were wearing a wetsuit hood, it would cut down the sound some what. I had this problem too and solved it by cutting out two small holes where my ears were to allow the sound to come through better. But I had to buy another hood for use when I wasn't using the detector. I had to trouble at all without the hood.
