What do you think

Nothing says artifact to me based on the pictures I see.

Does the black one have an edge or two that is beat up a little?

I will post more pics ....i found these far from anywhere they are naturally found but both of them where found within the same location. On the black stone at the point down there is a brown color what could cause this?

that brown streak could be an iron oxide deposit if it has even been struck by farm equipment.

Just looks like a nice black rock to me.

It looks like it could have made a nice hammerstone, but so could most cobbles that fit in your hand. As quito mentioned, a used hammerstone usually has a couple of areas that are beat up from rock on rock violence.

There is what looks like places where it hit something ,on the flat sides the top is flat and the other has a concaved and makes fitting in your palm fit perfect it's thick on one end and tapers down but guess I have never seen or help cobble so I thought it might have been used for something but has for the brown rock could it be a rock they chipped off to make arrow heads maybe?

As the guys keep telling you, keep trying, but right now you are finding rocks. I am new to the sport ( and I will post one of these days) when you finally find a real artifact or point you will not have to use your imagination like you are doing now. Sorry but that's the fact.

Those rocks are natural. Keep looking and good luck to you. If you spend enough time afield you will find some nice artifacts. Look for rivers/creeks, search those gravel bars and fields nearby the water sources. Find year round water sources (ancient, and not man made lakes etc), and you will in time find some good pieces.

If the black one was found far from where it occurs naturally, it's a manuport -- something carried in from somewhere else and intended for some purpose (often imponderable). Definitely a part of the site assemblage.

I thought you were making up a word like Leverites... I looked up Manuport...new word added to vocabulary ..thanks!

Thanks for the tips I have a few more I just posted and a couple more in the works one a different post

This is an example of the type of use wear or damage associated with hammerstones. Both ends are the only areas showing use. The rest of the Stone is smooth.

Kinda cool how many implement strikes a rock can take. Check out the iron deposits and fresh strike showing.
