Well I have been lurking and reading and finally got around to posting some of my finds. Today was what I thought would be a great day I got permission to hunt private property right along the edge of the First days battle at Gettysburg where A.P. Hill was positioned.

I was wound up and ready, after getting the owner to turn of the doggy electronic fence I found a 3 ringer right off the bat. Sadly that was the only bullet and some dropped lead and lots of iron.

Then the sweet ring of a deep target around 12 inches I could see buckles in my head as this was a strong signal around 80 on the meter but soft. I see brass and think buckle and what do my eye's see but a Petal Sleigh Bell from the mid 1800's I was sad but after cleaning it up and looking it up online I am very happy with it.

Sweet crotal bell!! :headbang: :icon_thumright:

Nice One! Crotal Bells like that are usually broken into pieces, occasionally you get them whole like you did here today, Congratulations :occasion14:

I have lost my mind I forgot to introduce myself my name is John Smith I live in Cascade MD and I have been detecting since 1990.

And thanks for the info and link. I wish I could see a makers mark, the only marking is the letter N with a 5 right next to it, this is on the bottom and on the top next to the shank is the number 14. I think this is a U.S. made bell, I am just unable to find this particular design, meaning with the stars in the petals and the bell has a total of 6 petals.

Now in my research I found that the bells were made from way back into the midevil days, so there is a long history for these bells..

Welcome and nice crotal bell 8) :hello: dawg
