It feels like clay and the color will bleed on paper. It's like firm clay .

Reminds me of a stalagmite from the floor of a cave. There should be some experts that will chime in if it goes in that direction.

Looks like layered limestone still in the process of hardening. A layer by layer build up of two particular soil colors.
