What is the most common Half Dollar mark you find?

Well, I have been doing ths heavily since mid January and it's like clock work with some of the Half Dollar boxes you find. When I see certain Half Dollar marks on the coins in varous boxes I can usually tell that it;s going to be a skunk. What is the most common mark that you see when you open your boxes up.

The first three months it was the red ear on JKF, but now the most common and dreaded mark is the purple tail on the back of the coin.
When I see the purple tail, the box is usally a smelly one.

List the most common mark in your area and also the area you live. I am from the Upper Midwest.

It seems like a total waste of time to mark coins... it must take forever. I don't see the added bonus either... it takes me 0.5 seconds longer to check the date on an unmarked coin as opposed to instantly seeing it's marked. Why do they even bother?

The one I see most is a red line across the obverse.

This is a new one. Is this one of you guys? I am glad you couldnt mark on of the other 999 coins in the box and had to do a 2011 which I needed.

Green circle around the ear also black heart.I find silver in these boxes anyway.

By far the most common mark I see is the ear mark - it may be black ,red, or green , -
I agree with the previous posts , that marking coins is a complete waste of time - unless I
am really missing something, the person doing the marking, would have to lay all the coins
flat on a table - obverse or reverse side up , and individually put the pen to each coin . I
can't see a logical reason to do this - I would welcome any ideas that any of you have about

saw a new one last night that was humorous. the edge was coated silver and the in sharpie it said, "not silver HAHA" i laughed and my wife said, " thats mean!"
