What Is The Story Of This Carved Wooden Plaque

[FONT=Arial,Vardana]It is a decent size at 18 inches wide X 11 1/2 inches tall and to me is nicely carved.
There is a story here and I just do not know what it is. Possibly myths from both regional and cultural traditions.
On one picture I wrote my thoughts / questions, appreciate all comments..

It does Don, normally a Chinese scene is from events that have happened or mythology. So far I have not been able to find anything with my research.
