On second look..... perhaps it was the model for the first Atomic Bomb? It looks a little like "Fat Boy". That would mean that they were far more advanced than we will ever be. Know why? They thought about making the weapon..... designed it.... thought about the ramifications and then.... scrapped the idea. Wow
