Any chance you found it in the mountains of Tibet?

I certainly see a drilled hole on the top. I bet the fine folks over at the native American artifacts forum could fill you in.

Deb, I'm moving this to the North American Artifacts, you're get better results there.

Looks like a big well polished banded slate pendant.
Can you take a couple photos with it laying flat so we can see the whole thing clearly? Mabey one of the other side.
That is a real beauty!
Treasure you found there!
Big congratulations!
That wasn't worn by just anyone.

Found in a cornfield

I can't get any new photos, a friend who is new to detecting found it behind his dads house in a corn field. Wish I had found it. I will be going on the field with him soon. There used to be a house there, there are grave sites in the woods. He found out it might have been been worn by and indian chief, and the notches might have been from things he killed. The chief might have been killed because it was on the ground. Who knows. Mohican Indians landed not too far from there on the Hudson River.

The marks are called "Tally Marks" It looks like a Stone Pendant and a really nice one.
