Welcome to the site. Crossed rifles indicates infantry. The age of the collar insignia I cannot say. You should be able to find out online. The moderator may move your post to a different forum. This will be good as more relic hunters will see it there and can probably help you out more.

WHAT DOES THE BACK LOOK LIKE?
I WILL SAY POSSIBLE WW I COLLAR DISC - ARMY
BUT CAN BE USED INTO WW II - SEEING THE BACK MIGHT HELP
THOSE ARE COLLECTIBLE - THOUGH THAT STYLE IS SOME WHAT COMMON - FOR BACK THEN

... ALSO HELPS IF YOU FOUND ANY COINS OR OTHER OLDER ITEMS IN THE SAME AREA
I FIND THOSE FROM WW I TRAINING CAMP FROM THE LATE 1890S TO AROUND THE 1920S
I FIND 1900S DATED INDIAN PENNIES AND BARBER IN THE AREA - WHICH MAKES SENSE
AND SUPPORTS THE DATE OF OTHER FINDS

1st - I noticed this was your very first post kirkham - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - I merged both of your threads (had them in different subforums) into one so you don't have two threads covering the same request for information.
