I've owned many over the years, an old D-Tex BFO, White's Coinmaster back when they were a blue box, Tesoro LST, and now have settled down to a (now old and venerable) White's MXT, Minelab Quattro and a little Fisher F2 that I use as a loaner and backup. Don't laugh at the F2. It's a little workhorse, or maybe I should say work burro, especially with that little 4" coil. It has surprised me many times. The MXT has paid for itself and every other detector a couple times over. It can sniff out gold in the parks like nothing else I've ever used. The Minelab is great but the noise drives me nuts, so I rarely use it. That's a shame, I know, because it's a great machine. I've used the MXT enough to speak it's language, and it has become like an extension of my arm. I pretty much know what every beep and grunt is telling me. I would never get rid of it until it literally deteriorates into the dust.
