The first time I was leaving for combat duty my Dad told me:
"Son, don't worry about that one bullet with your name on it. It will probably miss. Worry about all of those bullets flying around that say To Whom it may Concern!"
That is probably from some movie or maybe just Okie Wisdom. And BTW, it was one of those random ones that got me.

Another one from Dad:
"Pull my finger!"

"Don't become so open minded that your brains fall out"

If you never do more than you get paid for, you'll never get paid for more than you do.

And...

Do more than is expected of you, and soon more will be expected of you.

I used to belive the first one but fell victim the the second, by doing the first. Never got paid anymore either,. So now I do for myself when it comes to getting paid more.

Sad really

you'll never be paid what your work is worth so long as you work for another person -- since the differance between the value of the work you produce and what your actually "paid" for doing it is why your boss runs a "bussiness" --and how he turns a "profiet". ---the more he can get you to do with the false "lure" of more money (which never seems to "actually" happen ) or "moving up the company ladder"--the better he does --so if theres 100 employees and 1 "under boss" slot let em all think they got a "shot" at getting it --keeps em working hard. --- ah its good to be the "king".(ala mel brooks)
