hello everyone.I found this stone on the top of the mountain while searching for minerals.i wonder what it says on it.the history of the region is very old.(western anatolia)can someone translate this please?

BTW - I'm not convinced the object on the right is a set of shackles. It doesn't make sense.

This couple apparently chose these icons to represent them for all eternity. She picks a spindle and distaff likely because it was something she loved to do. And he picks closed shackles? I don't buy it. I'm wondering if his icon represents some type of tool for a professional or artist. I've started looking but with no starting point, it's difficult to gain any traction in research.

What do you guys think?

DCMatt you got it wrong I'm afraid (and this is something that rarely happens).

The stone was set for Artemis the deceased servant, by the couple, her masters, then liberators (this is just my theory, ok?), then friends.
The ancient greek word for tomb "MNHMEIO" means reminder not tomb so this is a memento mori more than a tombstone in the modern sense and the names of the ones that have taken care of the dead are listed first.
As maybe on a memorial stele, "The city of X to it's brave firefighters" for example...

OK. Thanks. It makes more sense now. I was thinking it was a tombstone rather than a memorial.

I'm still trying to get my mind around "closed shackles". If Artemis was liberated, wouldn't "open shackles" or "broken chains" be depicted? Something to indicate freedom?

I tried to find an example of shackles resembling the ones on the stone. I could find any...

What are the odd shapes at the top and bottom of the shackles? The loop and the pointy bit?
