I know this may be hard to accept but snakes don't have human emotions they don't enjoy life ...they survive. If some armed person came on my property and towards me and mine in a threatening manner I would also eliminate the threat so I'm not just hating on slimy gross snakes

Its a snake for the love of god you know like the one that talked eve into that Apple . it's not like it was a puppy

Apparently you believe all the myths about snakes. Puppies aren't human, either, and by your definition wouldn't enjoy life. And we know that is likely a falsehood.

I welcome snakes all around our farm: corn, rat, milk, garter, green, banded, water, etc. They keep the mice and timber rats down. Never met one I couldn't side-step to get away from.

As far as emotions and life awareness - I think many humans fail on those qualities as well.

Hopefully you ate it; so as not to have killed for no purpose . . . another of those "human" traits.

Just remember God made snakes too and it was not a mistake. I just let them be. These days I just intimidate them and talk to them. Want to see something funny, talk to a snake, they can feel the vibrations coming from your voice, especially if you're loud. They generally freeze or flee! I opened the shed door and a black snake was in there, a medium sized one. I scared him so bad it fell a foot to the ground, it was terrified. It just froze. A half hour later it STILL hadn't moved! Scared him real good. I saw him last year, he has gotten very large. And still runs from me!

It's a rattleheadedcoppermoccisan. They are deadly to old men who don't see them before they step on them. Good luck.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The only good snake is a live snake. This includes rattlesnakes.

Snakes are not slimy. They are a dry reptile. Slugs and snails are slimy.

you are one sad human who doesn't respect life that you don't like

it's nice that you know everything and how animals feel

I'm done with you
I respect your right to love snakes but to be mad because I'm fearful is unreasonable there are snakes in the woods here in Georgia that will kill you before you have time to turn and run ..please respect my love of breathing

As a biologist, please allow me to inform you that there are no snakes in GA that will "kill you before you have time to turn and run" - unless you have an allergy to snake venom so rare that I have not heard of it. It is best to just keep your distance from things that you fear. I know a guy who was bitten by a copperhead AFTER he cut off its head and reached down to pick up the head. It was painful but certainly not life threatening and he received anti-venom to prevent tissue damage.

Its pretty stupid to just kill a snake, you need to learn to ID them. Black snake (king snakes) will eat copperheads, so they are good snakes. I have 3 black snakes around my place, I let them be, they eat the bad snakes, mice (my house in the country rarely gets them) and the population of frogs around the pool seems down this year. It is also illegal in georgia to kill non-venomous snakes, here in Missouri its illegal to kill any snake unless it is threatening, but I think all copperheads are threatening.

I really don't care if you let it live or not, but like I said, you really should learn what is what, as snakes do a lot of good things.

In some states (such as Maryland), it is illegal to kill snakes, venomous or not. I am aware of at least two successful prosecutions for illegal snake killing - although in both cases, the rubes fired a rifle and a shotgun in a dense residential neighborhood.

I once listened patiently to a guy boast about killing snakes who went on to complain that after he killed the snakes, he had a mouse problem...

I've walked right up on timber rattlesnakes...within 2 feet.....not a one was aggressive....or even rattled.

Might have had Snake Fungal Disease from whats left of it, if so you did it a favor. Anyway some people just cant stand snakes, same for bats & bugs. Small percentage so get over it.

I am not mad at all. And if your life is in danger kill it, I would too. I just think when you learn that not all snakes are out to kill you or even can, you might want to live and let live

Kittens and puppies can scratch worse than that snakes little teeth haha. Please don't go in the woods and kill everything that scares you. Others want to enjoy nature. Just stay in the city.
