What to do with proofs?

No not Eminem's friend who died proof I meant proof coins!
I have a large stack of halve dollar proofs. I also have quite a few penny proofs as well but I'm more conserned about the half dollar proofs as they are taking up a lot of space in ma' collection.

My question is what should I do with all the proof coins? Should I put them in a book and try to sell the set? How much does a full set usually sell for? How much money will i gain? Do sets even sell?

Are there any other things I can do with the proofs to get more than face value for them?

Thanks homies, I'm not a big clad guy...Maybe if I make some money off da proofs I can buy some silver.

If you don't care for the clad then putting them in an album to look pretty will do nothing for you. I'm not completely sure what they are worth as they are more worth whatever people are willing to pay for them pending their condition. You can always try to sell some on Ebay or Craigslist. It never hurts to sell something for more than face value (even if it's only a little more) & build your bank roll to get more silver!

Tons of Newbies on eBay. Sell them there. Coinshops don't want them. Sell them like 2 of the same year, or like 80 -83 ect.

i keep all proofs, but i think you could sell them for $1 each to the right person, but that might even be difficult... i'd try CL maybe and if you get no bites, donate them to the local coin club to give out to the little numismatists(sp??)(young collectors), they love that stuff!

Some members here have been able to sell them for a small profit, while others were unsuccessful. All you can do is try it and see what happens. If you can't sell them, and don't want them, about all you can do is dump them.

Take a can of spray paint, blast the **** out of them, and put them back into circulation. If you want to go a different route, you can take a fat sharpie and simply write "Clad Proof" on both sides, and then put them back into circulation.

I think clad proofs are like kittens. Somebody will tell you that you can't give kittens away for free because they are worthless. Someone else will tell you that they sell mutt kittens for $30ea to stupid poosy-lovers. Somebody will mock others for liking kittens and someone else will talk about how great it is to have kittens (in moderation).

If you have any desire to keep clad proofs, put them somewhere. You don't have so many that you don't have space for them. Get some paper rolls, roll them up and put them in your sock drawer.

If you just want to maximize your monetary gain, try to sell them for a premium and if unsuccessful, dump them for face value.

Small minded ppl cannot comprehend that you might have a different experience than they've had in trying to get a premium for them. If you've got so many of them that you can't find space for them, then you have enough to at least try to get over face.

You need to find out for yourself if your LCS might pay over face for them. Your LCS is not the same LCS as anyone else on this forum.
You need to find out for yourself if there is a CL follower that will pay over face for them.

A couple months back I sold 3 for 10 bucks. $3.33...... a piece not bad. Took the others to a dealer and they said to throw them back in circulation. Call barter kings maybe you can eventually get like a boat or something in the end. good luck
