from Yadkins post, "Teach Me" ...really got me thinking and gets my neck hair up.

I was talking with a Tx. Parks and Wildlife officer the other day at a state historical location. The laws here and elsewhere are asinine. Yea, lets just leave history in the ground to rust away and benefit no one. There will never be the paid staff (full time archaeologists) to reconnoiter all the known sites, let alone the unknown, found by us amateurs. Yet certain items and mainly certain areas are totally off limits. We are certainly capable of documenting, photographing and doing some basic field work that would/ could be of significant benefit to them and we don't even want any pay. It is all free to them. But alas....
And that brings to mind something I'm just now researching...chert and flint types. The books state a certain type of flint only to be found in 2 counties, yet it is in others, but because they haven't found it, it would not appear to exist. What absolute bull hocky.
End of rant, for now.

You don't want to get me started on the 'Dog in the Manger' attitude of those that have been educated beyond their intelligence and wormed themselves into a position of power from which they cover their own butts .
