What would you consider a dream box of halves? (today's standards)

Title says it. Feel free to post what you feel a dream box of half dollars is either in ounces of pure silver or in pieces of silver. (today's standards)

My say would be: 50 silvers or ~7 oz.

Would be nice to get a better understanding on a dream box of halves. my best YTD had 61 silvers (~11.4 oz) back on June 7, 2011.
50x 40% and 11x 90%

100+ Silvers.

I came close a couple months ago with a box conaining 84 (46x 90% & 38x 40%) but still have yet to get a true dream box.

Of course there's always the argument of getting a box of 100 40s vs a box of 50 90s...

Edit:

I see you edited to add Todays Standards. Well just because the silver is harder to get doesn't mean the dream changes, it just makes the dream that much harder to achieve.

I would agree.
But I think I would trade the dream box for an average of 1 40% per box.

I see what you're getting at, but considering there are more and more CRH'ers out there, the silver is dwindeling. There will ALWAYS be silver out there. Silver could be $500 an ounce and you would still be able to find silver. A kid breaks into their grandparents valueables and buys candy with those old franklin halves and mercury dimes. There will always be ignorance toward silver, but as time goes on, there aren't going to be less CRH'ers; therefore, silver become harder to find making a dream box less silvers than it used to be. That's what I am going at, but good point

I would say 100 silvers for a "Dream" , 50-99 maybe call it "Loaded" or something.

Maybe some of the old timers can confirm or correct this, but a "Dream Box" used to be considered 100x90% , not just 100 silvers right?

Hope we can all find one at some point

yes, i started this topic not only for myself to get a better understanding on dream boxes, but for others to as well. Don't know if this has been brought up before, but I know some people get offended when you state something wrong on here, especially when referring to a dream box where it really isn't. Everybody has their own opinions on this, but it is a good thing to get a vareity of answers.

Ive had two dream scores, one with 104, (70 40%, and 34 90%) and my best box ever, 399 silvers (258 40% and the rest were 90's including a BU roll of Franklins...) Those are dream boxes in my opinoin, but lately any thing with silver in it seems like a dream...

I've never seen silver come out of a box of halves, so I'd consider almost any amount of silver to be a dream. Probably once I reach twenty skunks in a row I'll probably give up and only go for loose and CWR halves and save my time for dimes and nickels.

Frankly, I'm starting to suspect that the tips to try halves are just a gimmick to frighten away newbies and keep them off the good denominations. Halves are too hard to obtain and just don't produce.

Nowadays, I'd consider that box you had with 61 silvers a dream box. For me, anything with 5+ would be a miracle.

I've had 27 skunks in a row. I've never had a box with more than 50 (including 40%'ers). I would consider any box with 50 or more in todays massive coin roll hunting society a dream box. Over 100 is an anomaly, one in a million as far as i'm concerned. So BuffaloBoy, your 61 silvers is a dream box in my book. And yes, I read your post several days ago, wrote a long reply, but then thought better of it because I didn't want to flame certain posters on your thread, so I deleted it and left well enough alone. Don't let 'em bother you none.

thanks!! I do not let them bother me, there will always be those kinds of people no matter where you go. Most people on here are decant people, some collectors and some trying to make a living. (second job??) And that other 5%. The ones who jump on every opportunity to harass and pick out what people say and make fun of it. Hope you get a monster box, I never thought I would get a dream box, but it's out there, just got to keep searching. hh!

I always thought a dream box was 10% or more silver. Actually a dream box would contain at least one more than our best ever previous box.
I guess we could assign a point system to each box. 40% 1pt., 64 Kennedy 2pts., Franklins 3 pts., Walkers 4 pts., Barbers 5 pts., Seated 6pts., Bust 7pts.. Then we would need to assign a multiplier per coin for condition.
It's not about what was the greatest box ever, or if a box meets a standard. It is about learning, sharing tips, encouraging others and a little bit of braging.
10% works for me.

I'll be the odd man out in this discussion...

To me, a dream box will always be 100 or more silvers, whether they are 40% or 90%.

I'd still like to find a box with 1 or 2...I am back on my skunk streak!!!!!

Hey, I'm in the same general area as you (I'm surprised, there are two others around here on Tnet too), and I actually have gotten silver halves (all 40%) around here both in CWR/loose and in my very limited experience with boxes. My bank said they can't order boxes for customers anymore, and I'm really too busy right now anyway... but go get it, it's out there! (Thanks rileyboy)

Yeah, I had to hunt around before I found a bank that would order them. I have gotten silver in loose and CWR halves. In fact, almost all my silver halves came out of one CWR, which skews my averages. But boxes are killing me.
