Doubting that arkansas will get enough signatures on petition by tomorrow what do some of you think will come of these online petitions wanting to secede. I was really hoping arkansas would get enough signatures just to see what or if anything happened.

Remember no politics on forum.....reply with out any any political posts, they will either be deleted or thread closed...

I think we already played that game back in the 1860's, But just to play the devil's advocate, it would be defined by the red and blue state coloring on the election maps and I am in the wrong color state. What would I do? I would become the great recluse! Frank

Good grief. Where else can a group of guys shoot the fat about our country. It doesn't have to involve politics.

I agree it doesn't have to include politics, I made my post to be sure some didnt try to turn it political..... Thread topic is not a problem...

Move to the part of the country that was run by common sense instead of greed.

I mentioned the coloring of the states because it represents two different viewpoints, like slavery and states rights set off the last rebellion. It's got to be based on something, like free speech, gun rights, or possibly membership in the UN. What you do is based on the problem that set it off. Most people react to an action or threat. I'd stay in the half that didn't seceed. By leaving all their social security benefits behind they would automatically balance the budget of the original country.

The only problem with that is that the US owes more money than exists. Therefore that wouldnt work.

I don't think it would be "allowed" to happen. And if it somehow did, the trade sanctions, taxes, etc. with the "new" country up north would make it probably impossible for the South to sustain an existance. Just my .02

Clay slayer, Not " Allowed" to happen? I think that is what happened the first time. That's why there was a rebellion. Some people are not sheep. I don't think it would be strickly North / South this time Ideologies have spread out. Frank

Trying to stay out of politics but clay it states in constitution that the man in Washington shall permit seceding peacefully or by revolution

Ok, I agree, in theory. Man, it's hard to talk about this subject without getting "political", so I'll just move on. Oh, and I am from the South and am very proud of that...the way things are going now a days, I don't know what to believe anymore.

To attain the perceived goals of living in a state that has seceded, I believe one would also have to renounce his or her citizenship. That simply isn't possible for me (retired DoD) nor for many millions of other folks. Having said that, the next best thing would be to live in the state I enjoy most and that affords me the most in personal freedoms dearest to me. That would be the great state of Tennessee and now that I am retired I will be moving there this coming new year. :tongue3:

civil_war22, Where does it say that? Amendment 1 States. No one may advocate the overthrow of the government by war.

My state would never leave, the mother of all evil is next door - Washington DC, and they got us!
