Whats everione keep theyre treasures in ?

I got used Blue print cabinets. They're easy to find on the used market nowadays, since people, in the last 10 to 20 yrs, are increasingly going digital, and having all blueprints stored and viewed on computers nowadays. So you can find these things for sale @ used market occasionally for cheap. I fashioned the ones I bought with a locking mechanism I added on myself. Although some used ones might already come with key-lock type drawers.

Thats a really great Idea. It sucked because my last job i had at an Architectural Firm, they ended up throwing 4 of these away. I wanted one, but couldnt see how its gonna fit in the back of a VW Rabbit...I have mine spread out in plastic tubs...and my Silver coins and Buffs/V's Indians are in coin holders in a folder....the wheats are in a 5 gallon bucket..lol....and ALMOST Full

Diggin, that's a funny story. And you're right: in this increasingly digital age, there's less & less use for paper storage like this. And I too suspected that some furnishings like this would likely end up at junk yards, tossed out, or .... sold for quite cheap anyhow. So when I got ready to find some, I eventually found a construction company developer dude who had 2 cabinets like in my picture. But he was stubborn and wanted $100-ish :( He was griping that he had paid many times more than that when he'd bought them, and that the price new was such & such. They are high-quality with roller tracks, sturdy, etc... I was in a hurry, so I just went ahead and paid his asking price.

But you're right: If someone sticks to their guns long enough, they're bound to find these cheap, if not tossed out.

I'm sure that contractors and developers are still using actual paper blue-prints in the field. when in actual construction phase. But the need to long-term STORE them, after the project is built, is a bygone era. Because now it's all stored on 'puters. And .... if some need came about in the future to have another paper copy made up, you simply print it out. Unlike in the old days where they'd have been stored in actual paper form for however-long needed legally, etc...

True treasures should not be displayed or kept together. You just make it way too easy for a thief to wipe you out efficiently and quickly. Keep it out of the master bedroom but put it away through the rest of the house including the basement if you have one.

Better yet.... hide / conceal / rebury / or move a long ways away and keep maybe about 3-5% to sell slowly. The Fed. Govt. does NOT need to know. Those folks in Cal. were STUPID!!!!!

SusanMN is right if my good treasures were out or displayed I wouldn't still have them. The thieves did take the fake stuff, go figure!

Wow I wish I could get a blueprint desk round these parts not much for those but I'll tell some of my buddy's to keep an eye out for me. Lots of great ideas guys. Maybe the chest should be bigger so u can't carry it when it's full and locked lol Thieves can't take it than.

Thx for posting guys.

I always liked the display coffee table idea too. I've seen some nice ones on t- net.
Happy hunting and storing :)

Treasure Hunter, all you need are a dozen piranha in the tank with your goodies and you're all set.

Why are they stashing a tooth brush? Haha.

My detecting career started out slow and undocumented over the years. A fresh start this past Thanksgiving has found me keeping my finds more organized... I've started out with a common cash box, a buck at a yard sale. you know the one w/ the 7 compartments in a plastic tray, that lifts out, the bottom compartment holds all the non-coin keepers. I look forward to growing out of this, or at least reduce my trash collection... why am I keeping the guts to an old toilet anyway?

Thx for the ideas guys some of youse are pretty set up and really why do we keep old toilet parts ?? When I get mine or make it I'll post a pic :)

Happy hunting

I keep my best treasures scattered across the beaches and parks of America if you have inadvertently taken any please return to me promptly to avoid prosecution

The best stuffs stay in the safe deposit boxes (note plural). :laughing7:
I know a TH, has gold chains as their fan pulls. They been hanging so long they've tarnished and got little fake bauble stones hanging from them. Who would ever think to look twice at a fan pull? :icon_scratch: :laughing7:

That's all the info I can reveal atm. :laughing7:
