Whats the best detector you ever used?

Most productive has been my Tesoro Silver Sabre.

Most expensive were my Fisher CZ 6 and 1280-x.

Still have not put in the hours I'd like to with my Garrett PI.

Depends on what hunting I am doing, My mood, my swing speed, hunting conditions and so on.

For general hunting my Explorer II is my favourite but the DFX is better at coin shooting at the park.

Ok, i gotta chime in on this!!! I started out with a 100 dollar bounty hunter. Great machine, it found me an 1872 2 cent coin at 7 inches deep. I sold the coin and upgraded to an ace 250. I love the 250. I usually go hunting with a guy that uses the Minelab Explorer II and for the most part i think i can find the good stuff too. Example being, went to a park, and found an 1803 large cent. Like said above, its all about what you WANT your machine to do. And also about where you go. You cant expect to go to your back yard and the neighbors and find something spectacular(some might :P ) But research goes along way with treasure hunting. Good luck, Greg Horning :thumbsup:

I have a favorite for coinshooting, a favorite for prospecting and nugget hunting, and a favorite for cache hunting. They are not one in the same although. So it depends on what you are searching for and what kind of ground you are searching as to which is the best detector you have ever used. I have found nice things with all of them, so I guess you could say they are all the best detectors I have ever used. For coinshooting, I use a Bounty Hunter, good target separation and accurate target ID.
Prospecting, I use a Treasure Baron, deep and sensitive to gold and relics. Cache hunting, I use a combination of detectors to locate buried treasure. I am not going to get into that as it may start another controversy. Whatever works for you in your particular area is the best detector for you. There is no perfect detector for all areas, hunting all types of treasure. Good Luck..rockhound

Well, I only had one detector so far. I got it on my birthday (June 28th, 2009), and it's a Bounty Hunter Track IV. I like it, because I don't discriminate metals, and if it beeps when it goes over metal, than I'm happy!

I've owned most of the big name brands. I've used those one must study for years to master.

If I consider them all, by a country mile the deepest and easiest to use was the Minelab Sovereign GT. Today I wish I would have kept it instead of jumping all over the brand market.

I owned most of the Explorers, several Tesoros, Whites, Garretts, Nautilus, and some other odd brands, while some were good they didn't measure up to the GT.

Even though I no longer own one, to me the Minelab Sovereign GT is the finnest all-round hobby detector made.

I've always liked the CZ7 series for deep coins, Explorers arnt bad, but the XLT is IMO one of the best machines ever made and 15 years later is still more advanced than a lot of stuff on the market, its display is still my favorite and its ID the most accurate i've used. Its the best overall machine and most fun to use hands down.

I also have had many detectors over the years.. This is not the best or deepest or cost the most.. But as far as getting others into the hobby I would have to say the ACE 250. It is a good bargain for what you get and it will let the beginner find coins quickly and get them wanting more. So I have made many friends by loaning my extra Ace 250 out and having the best time just enjoying the hobby with others.

Started with BH outlaw and quicksilver,,,both found good things, but the Tesoro silver umax has done the best for me so far,(being kinda still new at this),,,drather be tweeking the knobs than hittin the keypad....this Xmas maybe a Tesoro Daleon or Cortes
