What's the fastest car you ever drove?

Or drove in..
Mine was my housemate's 1980 Alfa Romeo Spider. He use to buy, rebuild, and sell them.
He lent this one to me for two weeks over Christmas break. It was assembled for the European market and shipped here. I scared the @#$% out of myself the first time I drove it. In third gear I was doing 85 mph. You couldn't get it into 4th gear without going over a hundred. I never did see 5th gear. I maxed out at 115 on Montauk Highway Hampton Bays.
Fun, but scary, and very stupid.

Probably my brother's '91 Formula Firebird. Had it up to 135 on the Atlantic City Expressway a few times.
My Mom's Lincoln MKZ shift's back into overdrive at 120...

1970 Amc Amx. Like driving a V-8 go cart. 2-seater 4-speed. Friends are cautious and wife won't ride in it.

of the PA State police Cars of the time


Because it had 4 different size tires on it,
it was Vibrating like a tank,
But I Did hit 120 or so on the interstate one night

Thats a beautiful car jeff posted i am a buick man just love them i owned many buicks but in 1994 i bought a Toyota Supra twin turbo with a targa top. i had to have the twin turbo This increased the power output to 320 hp (239 kW; 324 PS) at 5600 rpm and 315 ft·lb (427 N·m) at 4000 rpm. The turbocharged variant could achieve 0–60 mph in as low as 4.9 seconds (0-62: 5.1 sec.) and 1/4 mile (402 m) in 13.1 seconds at 109 mph (175 km/h).[3] The turbo version was tested to reach over 285 km/h (177 mph) all-stock... luckily for me i am still alive because i got this car up to 169 mph, it was a hair raising experience... I buried the speedo in my '05 Mustang GT at 145 MPH and the RPM was still climbing like the second hand on a watch. I shut down at 5600 RPM because it was getting light in the front end. I know I was well past 150 but I won't claim it. This all took place as I was leaving Parker, AZ. heading to 29 Palms, CA. It was 65 degrees and I could not see another car and had not all morning. The Mustand has a Saleen S/C with 4.10 gears. It rocks.

My cousin was racing stock cars and let me drive it. Got up to 142 and thought I was going to die. My
brother drag races, you couldn't pay me enough to get behind the wheel of that thing.

1978 Transam. It was prostreeted and had a 455 +60, gold rings, heavy lope cam, forged pistons etc. Dyers 6-71 blower with 2x 750cfm carbs and a 5 speed. Back halfed with huge Mickeys. I had it up to 145mph on I-40 in Albuquerque and passed a Porsche.

1970 olds 442.

A good friend of mine owned one for a long time. It had a 455 in it with nitrous. This was a really fast car. Manual brakes manual steering. This thing was a beast. You would have to feather the pedal just to keep it idiling. It ran the quater mile in 10.2 seconds. There was over 30k in the motor.

Great car let me tell ya. It was red with silver super sport strips running along the sides and top. I have driven alot of fast cars over the yrs. Bmw 740 is a fast car. My current daily driver is pretty fast car. I am planing on a new car here soon. Either a pontiac G8 with 6.0 litre. Or a chevy impala SS with 5.3 small block chevy motor.

I am a V8 lover. I've had my olds aurora up to 130 pretty quickly. I don't like to take those chances to much anymore though. That car is smooth as ice at those speeds. Lot of pedal left in it at those speeds. Here in pa state high ways are 55 mph. Not really enough real estate to get her up any faster than that. To many hills and bends here.

Nissan 280ZX, I loved that car, had it 4 years before it started having engine problems. Sold it shortly there after, but I would hit it up to 100 at times. Only problem, some insurance companies will not insure you, thank goodness GEICO and I were in good hands.

Never drove it but a bubby of mine took me a ride in a dodge viper hit 130 and still had 5th gear. The bad thing was it felt like we were doing 70 or 80. That was the one and only time. he laughs at me because i wont get back in the thing.

My brother had a 240Z (dont remember the year) he took it off the road after a year or two also . Same situation, engine problems. Gee, I wonder why? "I had it upto a hundred a few times"

Brand new 72 Kawi triple H2, 140 - before I knew it. Bikes are more exciting!

Had one as well. An absolute bundle of fun.
They would do 11 seconds off the showroom floor.
425 horse 390 ci small block with a T-10 Borg Warner trans.
and a wheelbase 5 inches shorter than a 1965 "stang"

But still not the fastest car I've driven.

Fastest, or quickest? Fastest would be my 89 Camaro, it will do 140+ with ease...Quickest would have been my 68 Dodge Dart with a built 440 ran 11.68 @ 117 MPH in the 1/4 mile..Stupid me sold the Dart, still have the Camaro tho...

My self built race Mazda RX7.
Full race rotary engine came from Spartanburg SC and had run laps at Daytona before I bought it
and had it shipped out here to NZ. Hollinger 6 speed sequential box etc.etc.
Regularly reached 150mph on the track.
And regularly told me 'Oh s***t your'e gonna die' every time I drove it

My buddy had his Toyota pickup up to 120 mph on "10 mile stretch" while going from Ft. Irwin to Barstow, Ca. In the desert, when the moon is full, you could almost run without headlights, it was that bright, almost.

That was nearly 17 years ago.

I don't even wanna think about if we had been pulled over by CHP.

My 1979 Camaro Z-28 just built and installed a new aluminum head all roller 406 chevy small block for it last fall. Don't know the top mph yet I built it for quarter mile drags but it will jump to well over 100 mph pretty quick. Love that car I bought it a year ago all original with only 56,000 actual miles.

I think the 72 Pantera I had when I lived in germany was the fastest I owned.
I would cruise the autobahn at 200+KPH late or early morning but mostly kept to the advisory speed of
130KPH during the normal traffic time.

Nowadays on road trips I may get my Jeep up to 60 MPH

Ahhh, the younger days, we did have fun didn't we.
