Today while sorting through all my Wheaties I was wondering what everyone's best score was. My best cent score by far was about 2 months ago. I got to the bank and pi led up 2 re-taped cent boxes and I think well ain't this great I'm even getting other people's cent repacks. But I still opened the boxes and the first roll had a small "w" on that far right. So I then thought "no freaking way!" Opened 80 strait rolls of Wheaties between the 2 boxes. In one day I got exactly 4k wheat pennies! After that no cent box has ever met my expectations and I don't do to many anymore. :P

Today I decided to dump them into Ziploc bags of 1k and then sort and wrap by date and mint mark. I did One and a half bags and almost all 40's and 50's. :P

Here's the ever so rare copper p0rn

My best cent score was an 1820 and 1835 large cents found in a bag of halves.

Wow man, I've never even seen one of them before! I've also never heard of anyone finding large cents in halves!

My best penny score was an 1857 flying eagle cent. From a brinks roll. Also my oldest penny to date.

That beats me!!! I got about $50 in CWR last year and noticed about a dozen rolls were taped on the ends...all 12 +/- rolls were wheaties! Found a few steel cents in there and quite a few teens and twenties to fill some holes in the folders....4,000 wheaties in one week takes the cake!!!!! GREAT find!

I did ind my first IH this week though! These are always fun!

Thats still pretty good! I have only found one IH in all my hunts, its a 1908. I am getting excited about cents again! I am gonna get my hands on more when I can!

I got $10.00 from my bank a couple months ago. Three rolls were all wheats, and another roll had 30 in it, and out of the other 16 rolls, I got about another 50 wheats. They were all pretty common dates. It's funny how some of us get such a big kick out of finding stupid wheat pennies. I love finding em with my md and I'm up to 67 so far this month.

This goes back over the past few years but I've had 2-3 bags that each had over 1k wheat cents in them.
Also:
1 half dollar bag with 2 large cents.
1 cent bag with 30+ Indian Head Cents
but the all time best came last year when I pulled a 1909S-VDB from a bag.

4 indian head pennies in a roll of canadian pennies... one was from 1879 and the other from 1895.
yup, you read that right :)

I am a bit confused by that. Haha

While sitting in a friends coin shop, a guy comes in with a bank bag and asks my friend how much he would give him for it. My friend goes though the bag and takes all the silver out makes a offer on the silver and hands the bag back to him and says i dont want these. My friend then says he might want them and he hands the bag to me. Looking in I see about 350 or more wheats and 20 or so buff nickels.I tell the guy 5.00 as i really didnt want them. (I didnt) but fig I would give the lot to my little girl for her collection. He comes back with 10.00 and i say deal.
Total
one shield nickel
24 buffs with dates
6 war nickels
1 indian head cent
merc dime my friend missed
seated dime my friend missed
356 wheats teens-50s mostly 40s and 50s
not to shabby for $10.00

Yeah I would take that for 20 all day long! Great buy!

I went to the bank and asked for a roll of Canadian pennies, and they sold me a few rolls, and in one of the canadian penny rolls was 4 indian head pennies from AMERICA :)
I am a bit confused by that. Haha

55+ rolls of wheats all in one shot last year, customer dump...I don't hunt them, but stumbled upon them at the CU.

I cleaned out the "take a penny leave a penny" tray at the convenience store today, dumped it right into my pocket. 17 shiny pennies and they are all mine!

muah ha ha

That was you!?! I must have been right behind you cause I was 2 pennies short and didn't get to buy my daily zinger!!

1893 Indian Head. Just found it tonight actually :headbang:First Indian Head (1893).webp

I have found several Indian Heads but my most valuable find was a 1970 S small date in AU condition.

Couple months ago I found the king of cents, a 1909 S VDB. Just ended up selling the raw coin for $800 cash. Good return on my investment! (I posted the find when it happened, I believe it was titled "unbelievable cent find". Just in case anyone was interested.) HH!
