Whats your favorite time in history?

Re: What's your favorite time in history?

If it weren't for slavery, I would have voted for the Antebellum Period in America.

As a second option, I'd probably vote to serve with Francis Drake. Privateer sounds so much more palatable than "piracy"...

Re: What's your favorite time in history?

Probably the Civil War period as a news correspondent.
I think I'd also like to see some of those guys in their snake oil wagons

If there was a time machine, I'd put it on cruise control slow so I could watch things develop outside the window.

I would have loved to go hunting in Africa with Teddy Roosevelt. But if I had lived then I probably would have succumbed to one of my stupid childhood accidents at a very early age. I can think of at least 3 that would have been fatal with the medicine of that era. Monty

Knowing that I am a complete furniture nut....
To be in 1770s boston would have been a wonderful time to visit and talk to Duncan Phyfe would bea great adventure.

As it is the only way I can speak with the man is to disassemble a piece of his work and study how he put it together.

Yes, I know.... I'm a nut.

I think I would have liked to live in Rome during the classical period-but only if I was a rich citizen!

Re: What's your favorite time in history?

Early 1800's would have been a great time to be born. Life was tough but simple. Everything is too complicated anymore.

Re: What's your favorite time in history?

Would like to go back to the time of the mountain man and be one...to much hassel and hurry hurry these days.....

Re: What's your favorite time in history?

Isn't it strange that all of this technology that has been created to make our lives easier has ended up with so many people feeling as if they are caught in a rat race? I don't know if it's possible, but it would be nice to live a simpler, less complicated existence. I wonder how to do that while still managing a phone, a computer, a car and, of course, a job.

Here's a question that for me goes hand in hand with relic hunting: If you could get in a time machine and go back to any time period and any place in history, where and when would you go and why?

Roman empire, midnight orgy! ;)

Re: What's your favorite time in history?

I don't care to go back! This to me is the best time to live. We got the best of everything. During the Civil War they didn't even know what a germ was and many folks died. We don't have to keep a horse and all that goes with it, but just hop in the car and take the M/D to go find history. To live in a home with everything one would want. To kick back in the Lazy Boy with a drink in one hand and the remote in the other. To get on the computer and go visit many places and friends. To be happy where ever one might be, to have peace of mind. I guess I'm a happy man.

Speak for your self!
I have horses and trucks
I like both.
Personally I like the horses better, as now days they are easier to fix.

LOL
Just my opinion

Re: What's your favorite time in history?

The ideal thing would be to be able to travel in time to any era strictly as an observer and come back at will. If you were there in true life you might make drastic changes in the future. Or not! ??? I was always fascinated by the TV show Quantum Leap. Monty
